This is the start of one of my stories just to wet your appetite

    Cures
Jack and Teal'c stepped through the shimmering Gate, Jack tucked a twenty dollar bill he had been holding into his pocket.
"All I'm saying," Daniel said as he cleared the Gate behind Sam, "is we don't know the Goa'uld preferred rainforest planets," he finished as Jack held his hand out to show that it was raining before snatching the twenty dollar bill Sam held.
"But they did," Jack said as he carefully tucked the second bill in with the first. "Sucker bet," he stated, and turned to follow Teal'c away from the Gate.
The planet they had arrived on was lush, and the rank odor of rotting vegetation met them as the team moved away from the Gate and down a narrow rock paved path.
"But the probe video showed sunshine," Sam protested as she moved into the underbrush to pass Daniel and catch up to Jack.
"Never trust a video when there's money on the line," Jack said with a grin to Teal'c who did not look in his direction as he studied the path ahead.
"You tampered with the probe's data?" Sam demanded as she struggled with a small bush that grew were she wanted to walk, Jack simply followed Teal'c without turning to see her indignation.
"How could you-" Jack heard Sam start but what ever else she was going to say was cut off by the sound of breaking wood and followed by a subdued splash. Jack whirled about, and thumbed the safety off on his rifle as he scanned the forest where his teammate had been.
    Nothing.
"Captain Carter," Teal'c called out into the silence as Jack and Daniel slowly approached the gap in the bushes.
"I'm here," Sam called, and Jack could hear disgust in her voice.
He soon understood why when he reached the undercut ledge she had obviously fallen down. The stench of rotting vegetables was magnified and Jack paused to cover his nose and mouth with a handkerchief. Carter stood below, waist deep in a thick green and brown sludge that was a perfect match to the camouflage handkerchief she held over her face. Jack thumbed the safety back on on his rifle as he stopped to assess the situation, and try to find a more effective position for his handkerchief. He snickered as he watched Daniel pull out his own cloth with a gagging sound. The edge of the ledge crumbled under an exploratory foot, and he glanced about the pool to see if there was a better way down.
"Well," Sam demanded with obvious irritation to which Jack could only shrug in amused helplessness.
"I ain't going down there," Jack replied, and took a step back as the spot he was standing on started to sink.
"Ew," was all Daniel said in explanation to Teal'c look of query.
"I'm the one standing in it," Sam yelled from below and started to trudge toward the nearer edge. "At least throw me a rope," she called out when she couldn't find anything solid enough to climb.
A thin rope sailed over Jack's shoulder and landed beside Sam.
"Thank you," Sam called out as Jack and Teal'c spun around, weapons once more ready.
